As you may already know, I am pretty aware about the chemical dangers in skincare, cleaning products, etc. I know many people don’t believe in the dangers of things like BPA’s and parabens, but being informed helps make a decision. You can ignore the research, if you chose, but you owe it to yourself and your family to at least give it some consideration.
Here are some links that are helpful…
Parabens and Phalates-
SLS (Sodium Laureth orLauryl Sulfate) –
Artificial Sweeteners (I consider HFCS to be artificial, as it is not found in nature in the form of HFCS)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Usda_sweeteners.png I find it quite interesting that obesity, Autism, etc have risen as HFCS consumption has also risen….
Splenda- which is made with Chlorine, yes the same kind you bleach your whites with. It was discovered while trying to create a new pesticide, it is a chemical cousin to DDT, the banned pesticide.
Equal AKA Aspartame
Sweet-N-Low AKA Saccharin from Wikipedia ” In this synthesis, anthranilic acid successively reacts with nitrous acid, sulfur dioxide, chlorine, and then ammonia to yield saccharin.” Sounds yummy! Have you seen the cancer warning on the pink packet, that the FDA used to require?????? “USE OF THIS PRODUCT MAY BE HAZARDOUS TO YOUR HEALTH. THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS SACCHARIN WHICH HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO CAUSE CANCER IN LABORATORY ANIMALS.“
All of the above are lab created…. Why??? When things like Agave Nectar are natural and low on the Glycemic Index??Or Turbunidao Sugar???
The list includes Beef Hot Dogs and Lysol.
I thing all of those artificial air fresheners that are CONSTANTLY being advertised are horrible. What is so wrong about the smell of a house? Fresh Rain and Flowing Stream don’t really smell like their names would imply. They smell like chemicals.
Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener-
I use Country Save, sure, I don’t smell like a Cool Summer Breeze or Spring Rain, but I am not using artificial stuff, either. I suppose Petroleum Byproduct Breeze just isn’t that catchy. The full list of ingredients DOES NOT need to be listed on detergents, so what are surfactants? Not anything I want touching me or my family!
Alkyl phenoxy polyethoxy ethanols (also nonyl phenoxy ethoxylate or nonyl phenol). This is a general name for a group of synthetic surfactants. They are slow to biodegrade in the environment and have been implicated in chronic health problems. Researchers in England have found that in trace amounts they activate estrogen receptors in cells, which in turn alters the activity of certain genes. For example, in experiments they have been found to stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells and feminize male fish. One member of this family of chemicals is used as a common spermicide, indicating the general level of high biological toxicity associated with these compounds.

This is just the beginning of the list. Please do your research, and make and INFORMED decision. Yes, there are many ways to get cancer, but why wouldn’t you do anything you could to prevent it?????
