{November 10, 2009}   Slow Cooking Season has begun!

I made black beans today! YUM…… Living the can-less life is tasty. So EASY, too!

People mistakenly think liberals have no regard for the military. My father was a Senior Airman for the United States Air Force from 1963-1967. He was an Arabic Linguist USAF Security Service. He spent 2 1/2 years overseas, with a few tours in Vietnam.  He did all Intelligence work, so he got to have some pretty interesting experiences. I support the troops just as much as anyone else, I just don’t always like the President that is  sending them to war.

{November 10, 2009}   Another recipe!

Oatmeal “Cake”

Combine:
4 1/2 cups of oatmeal
1 1/2 cups of yogurt
2 cups warm water

Let this sit on the counter for a few hours.

Preheat oven to 350*

Combine in a separate bowl:
1 cup sweetener: sugar, honey, molasses, turbinado, etc. Use 3/4 c. for Agave (and a bit more oats). Real Maple is good, too.
3/4 applesauce
3eggs
1 Tbls cinnamon
1 Tbls baking powder
2 Tsp. vanilla

Add to oatmeal/yogurt mixture, then add:
1-2 cups of milk to desired texture: more milk makes it custardy, less makes it cakey
1-2 cups fruit of choice (fresh, dried, frozen)

Dump it in a 9″ x 13″ greased pan, bake for 1 hour. Let cool, then keep in fridge, you can reheat or eat cold.

I like cranberries and walnuts, or bananas and walnuts. Choco. chips would be yummy, too.

Thank goodness the other one expires 11/23! I am tempted to just do the Play-Doh ABC one for 11/15…. The other one is taking forever. Some letters are easier than others! For A- I have a pic of apples, B- DD’s Teddy Bear “Beary White”, C- Car, D- Pics of DD and her Dad, etc. Some letter are harder than other, Z will be pics of Zipper I need to take. It should turn out pretty cool though!
